3rd Bexhil

On 16th March 2007, Red nose day, the 3rd Bexhill Scout Group had an Everest challenge at the De La Warr Pavilion. Each member of the group had to climb the steps from the promenade to the top of the colonnade as many times as they could, a height of 5 metres per climb. The group had 89 climbers taking part with an age range of 6 to 60year old, and the total amount of ascents was 3962 times, which is the equivalent of climbing Everest two and a quarter times. The whole event was to raise money for the two charities of Comic Relief and Leo House Hospice, which is the chosen charity for East Sussex Scouts this year. We raised in excess of £800, which will be split equally between the two charities.
